Europe Sleeper Trains

Europe sleeper trains…imagine a hotel on rails!

Have you ever thought that traveling Europe would be an extraordinary experience? Ever wonder what the best way to do it may be? Wonder no more because seeing Europe is most enjoyable from the comfort and luxury of a Europe sleeper train. There are a variety of trains that go in and out of Europe and Asia, many of them offer certain luxuries that extend beyond just the ability to travel, but none act in the accommodating way that Europe sleeper trains do.

Before we go any further we should do a little bit of explaining, what exactly is a Europe sleeper train? A sleeper train is a train that has a set route around Europe to take travelers and/ or tourists. They are a popular form of travel because they are comfortable, they give you a great bed to sleep on and everything you need is at your disposal. These trains are often referred to as the ‘romantic’ way to travel Europe. A few popular routes that Europe sleeper trains typically go on are as follows: Paris to Munich; Paris to Barcelona; and Madrid to Paris.

What comes in a Europe sleeper train car? Well for starters you will have the aforementioned bed, but you’ll also have a carpeted bedroom, a sitting room with a sofa and small coffee table and a private shower and toilet (if you opt for the ‘deluxe’ room). You usually get the choice (depending on how many travelers you have) of room size, from 1-bed rooms all the way up to occasional 4-bed rooms. Of course it’s cheaper to share sleeper compartments but the choice is ultimately yours.

Since Europe sleeper trains are known to be the most luxurious way to travel Europe you know that they will be comfortable, but what is it really like? Checking in is very similar to any other form of train travel or commuting for that matter. You will check your reservation when you show up, find your way to your room (you will most likely be guided to your location by a greeter), and finally you will get to put your luggage away and enjoy the ride. It is that easy. But rest assured you have all the security and privacy that you could ever want. You cannot see the people above or below you and you have locks that mimic those you typically see in hotels. While in your sleeper compartment you should have both privacy and security.

Room service is one of those ‘extra’ features that come with Europe sleeper cars, one which not too many people decide to turn down! At your wish you can have something to eat or drink (a variety of snack options) and a sleeping car room service worker will be there to serve you. Room service on a sleeper train gives the feeling of a luxury hotel room.

Nowadays there are a variety of sleeping options when it comes to sleeper trains in Europe. In the past traveler’s were restricted to only the ‘traditional’ rooms which all looked the same. Now there are options that include size, features and a variety of service related options. The most popular of these is the T2 sleeping car. T2 rooms offer two basic formats, older and modern. Older T2 sleeping car rooms are the traditional rooms that have a variety 15-20 interlaced compartments. On the other hand the modern T2 rooms have about 16-17 compartments and come with a sink and a sitting room.

Europe sleeper trains are popular for their luxurious traveling options and their ‘dream on wheels’ experience.
