Your golden years are probably the best for rail travel in Europe. And the Eurail Railroad Network provides passes especially for seniors aged 60 years and older. This is a very convenient way to travel and see most all of Europe. Here are some of the Senior Rail Passes offered by Eurail.
Balkan Flexipass Senior
With the Balkan Flexipass Senior, you can ride the rails through Bulgaria, Macedonia, Greece, Romania, Serbia, Montenegro, and Turkey. You can choose from 5, 10, or 15 days of unlimited first class rail travel for a period of one month.
BritRail Consecutive Senior Pass
With this pass you can tour England, Scotland and Wales by rail. This one is has an added bonus in that you can get special fare for passage on the Eurostar (the inter-channel train between London, Brussels, and Paris). You can choose from pass durations of 4, 8, 15, and 22 consecutive days within a period of one month. You get Heathrow Express rail service from London’s Heathrow Airport to Paddington Station and Garwick Express rail service running from London Gatwick Airport to Victoria Station. Keep in mind that the airport-to-station excursions will cost you a day of travel on your pass. You also get a choice as to first or second class rail travel.
BritRail Senior Flexipass
This pass is like the BritRail Consecutive Senior Pass except that the days are flexible days (meaning you do not have to use them consecutively). It allows you to travel in Scotland, Wales, and England. You can buy 4, 8, or 15 day options for unlimited travel within a two month period. You have the same airport/station commute options as the Consecutive Senior Pass and usage will cost you a travel day on your pass. This pass is for first class rail travel.
BritRail England Consecutive Senior Pass
This is like the BritRail Consecutive Senior Pass except for England only.
BritRail England Senior Flexipass
This pass is like the BritRail Senior Flexpass except for England only.
France Senior Pass
You can see France with this pass. You get 3 days of unlimited rail travel in one month and you can use these days either consecutively or non-consecutively. This pass is for first class travel.
Eurail Norway Senior Pass
This pass gives you unlimited rail travel in any 3 days of one month. The days can either be used consecutively or non-consecutively. The pass is good for direct connections between Oslo and Stockholm on the X2000 trains. It is also good for trains between Oslo and Gothenburg on the NSB Regional trains. You get complimentary tea and coffee and travel is in second class. Some bonuses with this one are a 30 percent fare discount on the Flam Line, a 40 percent discount on the HSD boat Bergen-Haugesund-Stavanger (Flaggruten) and a 50% fare reduction on express boats operated by HSD Sio AS in Hardanger and Sunnhordland.
Scanrail Senior Pass
With the Scanrail Senior pass you get to travel in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden at a discounted fare. This pass has duration choices of 5 or 10 days of unlimited rail travel over a period of two months. Another option is that you can do 21 days of consecutive day rail travel. The travel on rail is in second class. Travel bonuses on this pass are enormous. Some of them include:
